Project Description (DPD) |
What I learned |
For this project we each got assigned a mental disorder, or you had the choice to be in a partnership and you and your partner were assigned a mental disorder. Once you were assigned this mental disorder you had to write a case report on it and a fictional creative story about someone who has your disorder. I chose to be in a partnership with Brendi Leoni and were were assigned DPD which means dependent personality disorder. DPD is when a person becomes dependent on another person, so much so that they can have panic attacks or feel depressed when there not with that person. Some symptoms that a person with DPD might have are, trouble making decisions, anxiety, being clingy, and depression.

This project was really interesting for me because I have never learned about mental health before so it was a cool experience. Learning about DPD and doing all the reasearch for it was also interesting because I had never heard of this disorder before. A few things I learned about DPD are that sometimes people who have this disorder don't even realize they have it. Another thing I found out is that DPD can usually only be diagnosed after the age of around 18. This is because most children are dependent on there parents so it would be harder to tell from such a young age.

Overall I thought this project was very fun and it was cool to learn about mental health. Writing my creative story and doing my art piece for exhibition was fun too, the only thing that was kind of stressful was the actual exhibition. The reason I didn't like it that much is because it took so long to set up and clean up, but only a few people came to me and my partners booth. I wish that more people would have come to ours, but I still had a pretty good time. I still learned a lot from this project and I thought that it was an interesting thing to learn about, so I still took a lot out of it.
